Grass, River Mist
Description: ‘River Mist’ grows and looks much like the species but has bright green and white striped bamboo-like foliage. It really brightens up shaded landscapes and combines masterfully with ferns and hostas. In late summer, silvery green, oat-like seed heads are produced on arching stems, looking especially lovely when backed by morning or evening sunlight. The seeds turn copper in the fall and make an interesting addition to cut flower bouquets. Like the species, this plant tends to reseed but the seedlings will come up green, so you’ll want to relocate them to another part of your garden.
